
For the People who are unaware the countdown to roll-out of 5G Network services in India has resumed, after a hold-up of several months while the government waited for the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India to submit its recommendations on making radio spectrum available to the network operators. Indian government has Finally announced 5G specturm & radio functions and are on their way to the auction in this mid-may month.
After initial optimism that auctions of 5G spectrum the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India submitted the Report on Recommendations and Autions of 5G specturm & radio frequency bands for network Functions which will be available as in Frequency Range of prices recommended the reserve prices for 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and 2500 MHz bands. However Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Digital Communications Commission is yet to take a final call on the regulator’s recommendations to get more clarification.
TRAI Recommendation on Lowering the Prices:
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has already suggested a 40% low base price for premium 3.3-3.67 GHz airwaves. As per the report, it has also Reduced the rate of 700 MHz spectrum by 45%, encouraging telecom service providers to bid for the 5G spectrum more aggressively.However, the Telecom body Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI)—whose members include Airtel, Jio, and Idea wasn’t happy with TRAI’s recommendation and said the spectrum pricing was still too high. COAI had presented arguments and concerns about the high reserve price based the Global Benchmarks & recommended reducing the price to 90%.
Airtel & Jio Are neck to neck among the 5G Network Providers:
Leading Network providers of India, Airtel & Jio are neck to neck with providing 5G services as soon as possible those two already completed intial trials and multiple tests in several cities, while showing the incredible test results of internet speed Airtel has seen upto 1Gbps while Jio has seen upto 452 Mbps during intial test.
13 Cities in india are first to get 5G services ?
Well along with the network reports the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has also revealed that the adoptation of 5G services will be launched in India in 13 Major cities in 2022. The department has officially announced that the initial 5G services will be available in Delhi, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune, and Gandhi Nagar, while for others we have to wait until end of 2022 or at the start of 2023.
